This online example of a browser-based application illustrates the use of an Interactive Guide for helping a user through the process of recording data about the furnishing and equipment purchased by their organization. This example application has been tested with Internet Explorer 3.02 and Netscape Navigator 3.03.

When you click the [Go to Demo] button, your system will a open a new browser window that contains two sections (frames) and no menu or tool bar. The left hand frame will contain a typical data entry form. The right hand frame will contain support information about entering or selecting data in the fields (right frame). Sometimes you will be able to click a hyperlink in the left frame to enter or select data in the left frame.

To display the support information for a particular field in the left frame, you can

  1. click the mouse pointer on the field label hyperlink, or
  2. click the [Next Field] button in the left frame to display the support information for the next field.

This sample system was quickly constructed to illustrate the concept of an Interactive Guide. The data entry forms does not contain the data validation features would normally be part of a browser-based application.

EPSScentral online article About Interactive Guides contains a detailed description of the possible feature and use of this intrinsic support devise.
