Criteria Criteria: 1. Supports performers through best practice processes. The core of the system is its ability to map, communicate, and track performance against best practice processes. These best practices can be determined at three levels. Best practices are mapped for:
The system also allows simple addition of content. so as newer or better methods are identified, they can easily be incorporated. The overall goal is the crux of the system. The overall goal defines the top navigation and progress Specific discrete goals within the process steps can be identified and communicated using the system. Because of the structure of the system, progress and specific expectations or goals can be easiliy established. 3. Minimizes terminology translation or interpretation. Accelerator is built using of the customer's terminology so the terminology can be as simple as the people managing the site want it to be. Currently, Brown-Forman has changed their terminology and within a very short time, they were able to switch out words. Foreign languages are supported and because the application is so thin, there are very few system words involved. 4.
Provides access to supporting and learning resources. Anywhere in the process or resources, a learning resource, job aid, or link to a tool or system can be included. The flexibility of content is virtually limitless allowing documents, tools, audio, video etc. The system is content agnostic and can point to learning modules, learning objects, media clips, job aids, etc. In the Brown-Forman implementation, we have accessed existing web-based training, presentations, and tacit expert knowledge to populate activities. The goal is to access the learning pieces in smaller elements so the learning is quick and relevant. As
video or web conferences capture new learning, it can be incorporated
where appropriate. 5.
Focuses on task(s), processes, and the natural flow of work. The application, by design, is process based and intended to map the natural flow of work. The activities and tasks are attached to the appropriate place in the work flow. A new person can quickly perform in the natural work flow and the experienced person can ensure performance of required tasks. Accelerator is focused on doing, producing, and eliminating wasted time and effort. The power is in the blending of work and learning. 6. Stretches the PCD/EPSS paradigm. .Xegy Accelerator stretches the PCD/EPSS paradigm by supporting an ongoing, iterative process of defining business goals, determining what should be tracked, linking existing tasks, resources, etc., identifying the gaps, prioritizing the highest support requirements, developing the resources or activities and linking them into the system. Accelerator does not support a snapshot of the organization but is flexible and repurposeable to support the business goals. The implications of this include: The
ability to repurpose the system - Xegy Accelerator could be brought
in to support an enterprise implementation of a Sales Force Automation
system, for example, and it could be repurposed at the appropriate time
to structure sales force development. The performance support systems
should support the business need and priorities, as those needs and priorities
change. Reuse of existing resources - The initial rollout is based on the multitude of resources, documents, tacit knowledge, difficult to use systems, and virtually any other intellectual capital that exists. The system is content agnostic. We recommend that the beginning state is to link to all the currently exists and then begin to weed out or redesign the pieces that are not useful. Increasing productivity - As the system is used, the bottle necks or areas that are counterproductive to the company's success can be identified. Strategies for addressing those bottle necks or counterproductive areas can be developed and implemented to achieve increasing productivity. Allows the system to reflect the changing business needs and goals |
